Flowering of Castelluccio 2023
Every year, between the end of May and July within the Parco Nazionale dei Monti Sibillini, the Flowering of Castelluccio di Norcia is staged. In this period, Pian Grande and Pian Perduto are tinged with innumerable colors, thanks to the myriad of wild flowers that sprout among the lentil fields. Among these gentianellas, daffodils, violets, poppies, buttercups, daffodils, violet Eugeniae, clovers, shamrocks and many others.
Sustainable mobility plan
To avoid the formation of kilometric queues, on weekends of maximum influx cars and campers are forbidden to pass through the plain and the parking, shuttle and bus booking service is activated on open parks. This is to allow users to witness this miracle of nature in full protection of biodiversity and local communities. In 2023, the sustainable mobility plan is active on the weekend of 24-25 June and the first three weekends of July (1-2, 8-9 and 15-16).
This year there are two methods:
- SUNDAYS: during the days of 25 June and 2, 9 and 16 July, the passage of cars and campers is forbidden. For those traveling with these vehicles, for all three entrance doors to Piani di Castelluccio (Arquata del Tronto, Norcia and Castelsantangelo sul Nera), the ONLY WAY to access the flowering is to leave your vehicle in one of the car parks (by reservation) indicated below.
- SATURDAYS: a “hybrid” mode is adopted on 24 June. This means that free transit is allowed for all vehicles, without prejudice to the absolute prohibition of parking on the lawns, and at the same time the proximity parking service and shuttles are available by reservation, again through the parks open portal. As regards the following three Saturdays (July 1-8-15), the method of use is established from time to time. If critical traffic-related situations are recorded, the same procedure as for the 4 Sundays will apply.
Once you have left your car in one of the established car parks, Castelluccio and the flowery plains can be reached via the shuttle service (by reservation) or on foot, by bicycle, by e-bike, etc.

How many parking spaces are there and where they are

In the Municipality of Castelsantangelo sul Nera there is a parking + shuttle service.
The parking area available to visitors to the Fioritura is that of Monte Prata. Here the shuttle service is active, departing every hour from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, with the departure of the shuttles arranged every hour.
The shuttle makes 2 stops on Piangrande:
- at the crossroads between the Forca di Presta road and the SP477
- in the square of Castelluccio village
• Parking and the shuttle are subject to charges and must be booked.
When?
- Sundays: 25 June and 2, 9 and 16 July. These days it is possible to book parking spaces and shuttle services to access the flowering experience.
- Saturday 24 June, only the transit of vehicles is allowed with the absolute prohibition of parking and stopping on the lawns. You can book your parking space and shuttle service to access the flowering.
- on Saturdays 1, 8 and 15 July, the access methods are established from time to time, based on the feedback relating to the previous weekend.
Who must book the ticket?
During the days indicated, the passage of cars and campers is forbidden. Those traveling with these vehicles and wishing to participate in the flowering experience and visit Castelluccio must book the parking and shuttle services on the website www.parchiaperti.it.

A chi è consentito l’accesso?
During the traffic block days access is allowed to:
- two-wheeled vehicles (bikes, motorbikes and mopeds)
- tour buses
- the cars of residents, residents, merchants, non-ambulatory subjects or those in possession of a suitable authorization
Where is the ban in effect?
- The closure concerns exclusively the entrance door from Norcia.
- From Castelsantangelo sul Nera and Arquata del Tronto the transit of cars and campers is allowed, exclusively for those who need to go from Castelsantangelo sul Nera to Arquata del Tronto or vice versa.
It is absolutely forbidden to park and stop. Parking and shuttle services are also available from these entrances.
Access for disabled people
During the four weekends of traffic closures, free access is permitted for non-ambulatory individuals.
